It’s official, the highest priced beer at the 2009 Oktoberfest will be 8.60 Euro. This is an increase of about 5% over 2008.
Is that expensive?
That converts to $11.85. If you include tip, the defacto price is really 10 Euro or $13.75.
Consider what you get for that price: 1 liter of high quality beer served in a glass mug. On top of that, the beer has to support the overhead: The tent, the servers, and the music. What would you pay in North America for 3 12-ounce beers in a place with a lot of atmosphere and a 6-12 person live band? I’d love to hear your comments!
